Best Way to Clean Leather Car Seats in Ontario, CA

Drivers of higher trim levels in the Kia Optima, Sorento, and Sportage lineups can opt for leather seating for a more comfortable driving experience whether you’re around town or far away from home. If you’re cleaning your own leather seats at home, be sure to have the following items so you can have your seats looking good as new, and follow the instructions below:

Things you’ll need:

  1. Either leather cleaner, saddle soap, mild leather soap, or a solution that’s one part white vinegar and two parts linseed oil
  2. Microfiber towels
  3. Interior brush (soft-bristled, NOT a stiff carpet brush)

Instructions:

  1. See your owner’s manual for specific model instructions and products that aren’t recommended to use.
  2. Use small attachments to vacuum dirt between seat cracks and remove particles, but be sure to not scratch the leather.
  3. Spray leather cleaner on a microfiber towel and wipe the seats clean to remove dirt and oils.
  4. Spray cleaner onto the seats (or for perforated leather seats, spray onto the brush to apply to the seats) and gently scrub the surface with the brush.
  5. Wipe the seats with a clean, dry microfiber towel.

What Products Should Be Avoided When Cleaning Leather Car Seats?

Since leather can be much more delicate and look much worse than fabric when damaged, you’ll want to stay away from tools or products that can stain or tear your leather seats. Before you begin the process of cleaning the leather seats of your Kia sedan or SUV, be sure not to use any of the following cleaning items:

  1. Sharp or abrasive tools that can scratch the leather surface
  2. Household cleaner and detergents
  3. Dark rags
  4. Furniture polish
